In Loving Memory of

Mark Adams Reedy

March 21, 1991 – February 5, 2010

Mark Reedy represented everything that our club is all about – he was an exceptional student-athlete, a loyal teammate and friend, a hard worker and most importantly, an amazing human being. His smile could light up a room.

Like most young men in Michigan who don’t have the chance to play high school volleyball, Mark accepted lack of opportunity as a challenge that he was going to overcome. He loved volleyball, wanted to learn how to play and wanted to be a member of a team that represented Michigan State University in intercollegiate competition. From the moment he walked into the gym, we knew that his winning smile and attitude would motivate others and that he was a real Spartan, through and through.

Mark had achieved statewide recognition by being a standout diver at Bloomfield Hills Lasher High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He chose to play volleyball at MSU and was a member of the MSU Posse, a mostly MSU freshmen club development team that plays in the MIVA – Midwest Collegiate Volleyball Association (http://miva-vball.org/). Mark was a civil engineering major at MSU, and as evidenced by Facebook pages dedicated to his memory, had diverse and loving friends from all walks of life that admired him and his loving family. We can’t say how humbling it is to lose someone with such amazing promise. We know that his passion to overcome adversity was a measure of his rich character. At tryouts he told coach that he would embrace any role that he was given and that he would put his whole heart into being a proud member of our club, both on and off the court. This selfless spirit represents an enduring memory that will remind us all what it takes to become a winner in life. We have all been graced by having the honor of knowing Mark and calling him our friend and teammate.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mark’s family and will dedicate our club season to his memory and the enduring values his life represented.

Rest in Peace, Mark.
